This Weekend In LA: Ice, Vinyl & Sushi

Friday

Holiday Ice Rink - 5th & Arizona, Santa Monica & Irvine Spectrum Center, Irvine
Santa Monica - 2pm - Midnight
Irvine - 11 am - Midnight

The weather is cooling down (for now), and just in time to bundle up and head out to Irvine for one of two outdoor ice skating opening today (Santa Monica hit a delay and will open tomorrow).  Get out those mittens and scarves and get your holiday skating festivities on.  Skate rentals and admission run from $10 - 17.

Saturday

Independent Label Market, Micheltorena Elementary School, Silverlake11am - 5pm

The Independent Label Market host their first West Coast event on Saturday.  Be the first to get exclusive music releases from indie labels and meet their founders.  Be warned, this is for people who love vinyl and their site warns that there are "no MP3s at this market."

Sunday

Japanese Festivals13th Annual Japanese Food Festival - Little Tokyo (11am - 3pm)Japanese Garden Festival - Descanso Gardens, La Canada Flintridge  (9am - 5pm)

If you don't have enough money to get a ticket to Japan, don't fear, you can get your fill of Japanese culture at one of these festivals.  Visit the beautiful Descanso Gardens for art, culture, taiko drumming or head to Little Tokyo to fill your stomach with delicious food and drinks (if you are brave enough, the sushi eating contest starts at 1:30).  Admission to the gardens is $8 and the food festival is $60 but includes AYCE food and drink.
